Temperature effects on dielectric liquid lenses.
The thermal stability of dielectric liquid lenses is studied by measuring the focal length at different temperatures. Two types of liquids lenses are investigated: Type-I (SL-5267/glycerol) and Type-II (glycerol/ BK7 matching liquid). A threshold-like behavior is found. Below the threshold temperature, the focal length is temperature insensitive. Above the threshold, the focal length changes ex...
متن کاملTemperature Tunability of Dielectric/ Liquid Crystal / Dielectric Photonic Crystal Structures
Recently, photonic crystals doped with liquid crystal (LC) material havegained much research interest. In this article new ternary one-dimensional photoniccrystal introduced and studied. The liquid crystal layer of 5CB and 5PCH is sandwichedby two dielectric layers. For the first time, we use four structures SiO2/UCF35/CaF2,SiO2/5CB/CaF2, NFK51/UCF35/NPSK53 and NFK51/5CB/NPSK53. The effect ofte...
متن کاملDiluter Effects on Large Dielectric Anisotropy Blue Phase Liquid Crystals
We have investigated diluter effects on the Debye relaxation frequency, and electro-optics of polymer-stabilized blue phase liquid crystals (BPLC). The relaxation frequency can be increased by adding a small amount of diluters, which benefits high frequency operation of BPLC. Some diluters significantly decrease the BPLC response time while maintaining similar Kerr constant. Author
متن کاملTemperature Effects on Soil Dielectric PropertiesMeasured at 50 MHz
759 Soil water content (θ, m3 m−3) is a basic hydrologic parameter that affects groundwater recharge, surface water fl ow, transpiration, and carbon fi xation. Electronic monitoring of θ facilitates the study of those processes by providing detailed temporal data. Most instruments currently in use measure soil dielectric permittivity, directly or indirectly, and then calculate θ with an equatio...
متن کاملPhysical optics modeling of 2D dielectric lenses.
We propose an advanced physical optics formulation for the accurate modeling of dielectric lenses used in quasi-optical systems of millimeter, submillimeter, and infrared wave applications. For comparison, we obtain an exact full-wave solution of a two-dimensional lens problem and use it as a benchmark for testing and validation of asymptotic models being considered.
